Student guide
- Sign in to the course with the student passcode. You can browse shared slides independently.
- Open workspace and sign in with your own lecturer-issued Hub account. Use Menu → Exercises → Released assignments to find the assigned title and files. Open its delivered notebook in your workspace home folder. An occupied name gets a
_v2,_v3or later suffix; keep the delivered name. Legacy homework keepsExercise_week_NN.ipynb. - Open the correct In-class exercise or Homework file. They are separate notebooks with independent releases; editing one never updates the other.
In-class exercise
Click Save & Submit – your assignment title in its delivered notebook. It saves your current edits and submits those saved bytes. Wait for Submitted; submit again after further edits. The lecturer can display this receipt in class. Older delivered versions keep their original release binding.
Homework: submit on the university learning platform
- Complete your actual working homework notebook (including any version suffix), select its tab, then choose File → Save Notebook. Wait for saving to finish.
- Choose File → Download to download your completed
.ipynb. - In the managed Hub, choose File → Save and Export Notebook As → PDF to export the saved notebook without executing cells. Inspect every page: Chinese text, formulas and matrices, code, saved outputs and plots, and line wrapping. Submit only after checking the complete PDF.
- Submit both your completed
.ipynband PDF on the university's separate learning platform, following the lecturer's instructions. Homework has no AstroStats submission receipt or Submitted status. This also applies to legacyExercise_week_NN.ipynbhomework.
Use the saved working file, including its version suffix, rather than downloading the original assignment again. Data downloads and the read-only shared data path appear alongside the assignment. If a notebook is missing, ask the lecturer to check Pending delivery; never overwrite another file.
If an existing session exports missing Chinese or has not picked up the installed configuration, save all open work before stopping and starting only your own notebook server through Hub.
Working on your own computer?
Download ZIP (optional). Check missing-data notices. For homework, save and export your completed local notebook, inspect every PDF page and submit both files externally. The managed Hub PDF configuration does not install PDF dependencies on your own computer. For an in-class exercise only, upload local work into a new Hub folder without overwriting files, copy your completed cells into the actual delivered in-class notebook, and use its Save & Submit button.
Contact your lecturer with the assignment title and error message if login, files, saving or export fail. Never share your password.
